The Texas City Dike extends far into Galveston Bay to retard shoaling of the Texas City Ship Channel. As a side benefit, it provides an excellent recreational area for sailing off a sandy beach. The north side is most is on the leeward side with the southeast winds that prevail during the warmer months. |
