FLASH

Due to the extensive damage from Hurricanes Dolly and Ike, publication of Campbell's Guide to Cruising Texas has been suspended pending a complete update.

While the Coast Guard marked and maintained channels have been cleared, significant dangers lurk beneath formerly delightful bay waters east of Freeport and south of Baffin Bay. In particular, East Galveston and Trinity Bays are reportedly littered with storm debris.

USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN PILOTING OUTSIDE OF OFFICALLY MARKED AND MAINTAINED CHANNELS.

Why cruise Texas?

What is really out there?

Are there fun things to see and do?

How far can I go in a week-long cruise?

These are just a few of the questions heard from all quarters... folks on the docks at Clear Lake, at boatshows and from far away.

Maybe this collection of tidbits for cruising Texas will help put things in perspective and even whet some appetites for places far and near. Perhaps it will even create the urge to drop the mooring lines on the dock and head out the channel for a new adventure.

Have fun on the water.
